To EAI Members: Last year EAI was unsuccessful in filling the majority of our scheduled workshops here at the Institute. So this year we are going to promote through EAI any members workshop agenda. We can take any information you would like to give us on your workshop and it will be posted on the EAI blog. In addition, we will refer website or email inquiries to the blog postings.
To participate in this, you will need to send information to Linda Fillhardt at firstname.lastname@example.org. She needs to receive this in a word doc or text files, and images in jpegs format. Anything in any other format will not be accepted. Be sure your information includes clear instructions on how to apply and what city the workshop is being held. You need to be a current EAI member to post a workshop on the blog.

More About Encaustic: Going a Little Larger July 12-15, 2013. The workshop will be an introduction, if you haven't done encaustic before, or you need a refresher on basic techniques, For more advanced encaustic painters, it will be an opportunity to enhance your work with a variety of new techniques. Individual instruction and criticism will help you move your encaustic painting to a new level.
Beyond Beginning: Going Large August 12-16, 2013. Five Days: This is my most advanced workshop, and a unique opportunity for artists who are already working in encaustic to experience the joy of seeing there work on a larger scale, or to attempt any other expansion of their vision which they might like to pursue. We will address the special design and technical considerations involved in working on a larger scale, from sketch to finishing. Participants may work up to 36" x 36" on their own panels, but may choose to stay in the 24"x 24" range. For more details go to http://www.nmencausticworkshops.com

________________________________________________________Ezshwan Winding's Workshops in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico email@example.com
I offer on-going encaustic workshops in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. This city is an artists’ paradise with many galleries, artists’ studios, and cultural activities everyday. We have year round Spring-like days and the picturesque town is a UNECO heritage site.
I have been an artist for over 50 years, concentrating on encaustic for the last 13. I have taught hundred of artists the encaustic technique for more than 8 years. For examples of students work and more details please check my blog: ezshwan.blogspot.com or website, www.ezshwan.com
Day 1 & 2 of the encaustic workshop will cover all the basics, including information about how to make paint, about the commercial paints and their applications, about supports, grounds and techniques: paint application, fusing, glazing, inscribing and mixed media approaches, safety, materials, demos of applying paint, glazing, fusing, How to get that smooth surface! Introducing mixed media, working with oil bar, pigment, creating lines and texture. I will emphasize how these techniques can be developed to create a unique encaustic language for each student. I will talk (and demo) how to create glaze layers, as well as some special techniques like inscribing. You will leave with a printout containing all the information you need as well as a list of suppliers.
I give participants a thorough introduction to the encaustic medium method. Artists with backgrounds in almost any medium will find these workshops are an exciting opportunity to expand their visual vocabulary with wax. Some who attend have some familiarity with encaustic, others don't, but want to expand their artistic experience. This mix of artists adds to the learning experience and often inspires all to try new techniques.
I will supply all the materials, except panels, as well as showing how you can make your own paints and set up your own encaustic studio. If you want to bring some things to collage you can. Old drawings or prints or photographs can combine with encaustic, but the paper must be porous and not glossy or coated. Encaustic works with almost anything but acrylic or plastics. Experiment with all the materials and create your own finished encaustic paintings in class.
Day 3 & 4 - Advanced techniques - We focus on surfacing, embedding, transparencies, glazing and hot pen, image transfers, and more. We will explore combining oil and encaustic and dipping. You should have several finished paintings after the workshops. The fluidity of the encaustic medium is exhilarating and can take you on a new creative journey. You will be making paintings that are luminous and appealingly tactile. Stroking and caressing the painting is encouraged. I also offer private classes for artists who wish to specialize in certain techniques or just want a shoulder-to-shoulder creative experience with me. All details, dates and prices are on my blog. ezshwan.blogspot.com
