The goal of this workshop will be to complete a
painting. While this may sound ridiculously easy, it may be more
challenging than you think. During the workshop we will discuss many basic
painting elements such as composition, applications, linear drawing,
characteristics of pigment, color theory and color development. In addition
we will contemplate aesthetic concerns.
I will demonstrate a number of stages that play a part in the evolution of
a painting. Following each demonstration the class participants will attend
to that particular step on their own paintings. We will volley back and
forth: I work / you work as often as our paintings need and time allows.
During the student painting sessions I will make every effort to
speak to each student on an individual basis.
