EAI Member Show Call for Art

Opening June 16th, 1-6 PM Encaustic Art Institute 18 County Road 55 A, Cerrillos, NM 87010 505-424-6487 www.eainm.com www.eainm.blogspot.com Entries: Encaustic Art Institute members are invited to submit one piece of work. Entries to be delivered to the Institute's Pyramid Gallery any Saturday or Sunday, 1 - 6 PM but no later than Saturday, June 9th 6:00 PM, no exceptions. Shipped entries must arrive by the deadline with shipping and insurance paid by the artist. This show will hang from June 16th-July 21st. Members, please note - this year we are not having "themed" shows. Our policy is to have one piece of art from each member up in the gallery at all times. If you would like to submit new work for each of our scheduled shows, please review the dates and submit your new work by the deadline for each show. If we have not received any new work from you by the deadline, we will assume that you are not sending new work and will leave up the work we have currently. As has been our policy, at any time, if you would like to have your work returned to you, please contact Douglas Mehrens, mehrens@eainm.com or 505-424-6487 to arrange for shipment. The next scheduled show is July 28. Deadline to receive new work is no later than July 21st, 6PM. Please note these dates are different than what was originally on the EAI website. It has been updated to reflect these deadlines. Calls for art will be sent approximately one month prior to each show as a reminder. Calls for art for the Gala and for the Juried shows will be sent separately. Size and hanging restrictions: All work must be ready to hang with secure wire across the back. No sawtooth hangers. 3-D work is restricted to 50 lbs for pedestal and 70 lbs for floor display and cannot exceed 5' in any direction. Label information: Artists should provide the following information along with their entry and in this order: Title of work, your name, medium, dimensions--with height first--, price. Download the attached form, (click on the link at left, label is on page 2) print it out, fill it out, and attach one. The Institute in accordance with the vote of its members will retain a 15% commission. Calendar May 9 - Call for art distributed June 9 - Deadline for receipt of work by Institute (1:00 - 6:00 PM) June 9 - Label information to Sherry Ikeda: sherryikeda@yahoo.com June 11-15 - Exhibition installed and labeled June 16 - Opening reception: 1:00 - 6:00 PM July 21 - Deadline to submit new work for next show, 6:00 PM It takes a lot of work to organize and hang an exhibition. About this project: Funding for this project goes toward equipment and encaustic supplies for use in our junior high and high school beginning encaustic classes. Funds will also be used for advertising our annual fund raising event which will feature our student artists.
We all know that one of the first things to be cut when it comes of budget cuts in the public schools are the classes in the arts. Please help us to continue and expand our programs in the public schools and continue our support of up and coming young artists. Please pledge your support and please ask your friends and family to support this project.
